about

I began this project on the 9th day of our initial isolation, the 9th day was March 25th, 2020. Initially, all works were created entirely from sound fragments, field recordings, miscellaneous discarded parts of unfinished pieces and unused recordings. We moved to Edinburgh, Scotland in mid-February 2020 and spent about a month in a city apartment. The magnitude of the pandemic began to become evident within a couple of weeks of our arrival and we moved to the edge of the city as the first lock down was put into effect. I remained without musical instruments until around June of 2020 due to the transatlantic move and COVID delays and restrictions on the transport of everything we owned to The U.K., all instruments and possessions were stored for some months pending a window where delivery was deemed moderately safe. This initially left me free to make new music from what bits I could find.

Volume 8 brings us to 1 January 2022, the third calendar year of the pandemic.

I am putting this up for free in volumes of roughly 80 minutes each, depending on the track lengths, because I feel that it's best for me to share new music and ideas freely while we all navigate these times. My best to all, I hope we can all endure.

'Your Own Portable Clarinette: A Free Collection of Free Music', the 2+ hour collection of album tracks, EP tracks and un-issued material also remains available as a free download or as part of a full discography purchase.

Clarinette began making tapes for broadcast on KPFA's "Assassinatin' Rhythm" in the mid-80's, in time the project went dormant until some tapes were found in 1999. One of those tapes made it to Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore who asked to release an LP. Tapes from those early years along with newly recorded material were released in 2002 as Haze. Clarinette has been an active recording project since. ... more
